Press Release – December 2016: Award-winning North East brand and digital agency, Unwritten Creative, hosted a very festive charity Bake-off, inspired by a colleague’s experience of cancer.
The Newcastle-based agency, led by directors Lisa Eaton and Amy Jackson, hoped to give Mary Berry a run for her money with its bake-off style coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer. The event was organised by the company’s senior web designer, Lisa McFarlane, who sadly lost her dad to cancer.
Staff invited a host of clients to their offices, hoping to impress with a variety of show-stopping treats and not a soggy bottom in sight. The crowd of tasters also had the opportunity, when purchasing a cake, to release their inner judge on the amateur bakers by scoring the treats.
Natalie McVay, the company’s senior designer was judged as the overall winner of the event with her delicious offering of Lemon Drizzle. Unwritten Creative raised £248 for the cancer support charity with the help of its clients. The left-over cakes were donated to The Peoples Kitchen, a local charity offering food to those in need.
Lisa McFarlane said: “As always, my Unwritten colleagues and our clients have gone above and beyond in their generosity. Macmillan is a charity which is very close to my heart and the work that they do is vital. I really appreciate everyone’s efforts, whether they baked a cake or bought one!”
Lisa Eaton added said of the occasion: “What better way to get everyone together and start the festivities, than to eat some sweet treats and raise some money for an important charity. Our clients were really supportive, not only by coming along and raising money but taking the chance on our baking stalls!”
